Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Chessiro ("we", "us") collects when you use chessiro.com and the Chessiro iOS app, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

• Account information. When you sign in with Google, Apple or Lichess we receive your name, email address, profile picture (if your account has one) and the provider's account identifier. If you sign in with an email code we receive your email address. Sign in with Apple may give us a private relay email address instead of your real one.
• Chess accounts and games. If you link your Chess.com or Lichess username, we fetch your public games from those sites. If you sign in with Lichess, we also receive the permissions you approve on Lichess (for example, to play games through Chessiro).
• Content you create. Game reviews and analyses you save, puzzles and training progress, settings, and questions you ask the AI coach.
• Payment information. Subscriptions are processed by Dodo Payments. We receive your subscription status and plan, not your card details.
• Usage and device information. Pages and features you use, approximate location derived from your IP address, browser or device type, and error reports, collected through cookies and similar technologies on the web and analytics in the app.

Google User Data

When you choose "Continue with Google", Chessiro requests only your basic Google profile: your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID. We do not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, Contacts, Calendar or any other Google data.

• We use this information only to create your Chessiro account, sign you in, and show your name and picture in the product.
• We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
• We do not share Google user data with third parties, except with the service providers listed below that host and operate Chessiro on our behalf, or where required by law.
• It is stored with your account for as long as the account exists and is deleted when you delete your account. You can also revoke Chessiro's access at any time atmyaccount.google.com/permissions.

Chessiro's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to theGoogle API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide game reviews, analysis, puzzles and training, and to track your progress
• To generate AI coaching explanations and answer your questions about your games
• To run your account, subscription and support requests
• To send sign-in codes and important account emails
• To keep Chessiro secure, prevent abuse, and fix errors
• To understand how features are used so we can improve them

AI Coaching

When you use AI coaching, the chess positions, moves and engine evaluations from the game, and any question you type, are sent to Google's Gemini API to generate a response. These requests are logged with our AI monitoring provider (Langfuse) so we can check the quality of answers and fix mistakes. If you turn on the coach voice, the coach's text is sent to Amazon Polly to produce audio. We do not send your email address or payment details with these requests.

The Chessiro iOS App

The app uses the same account as the website. Chess engine analysis (Stockfish) runs on your device. Your sign-in session is stored in the iOS Keychain, and your app preferences are stored on the device. The app does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Service Providers

We share information only with providers that help us run Chessiro, under their own privacy and security terms:

• Vercel and Amazon Web Services, for hosting, storage and background analysis
• Google (Gemini API), for AI coaching, and Langfuse, for monitoring AI responses
• Amazon Polly, for coach voice audio
• Dodo Payments, for subscriptions and billing
• Mixpanel and Google Analytics, for product analytics
• Sentry, for error reporting
• Our email provider, to deliver sign-in codes and account emails
• Google, Apple, Lichess and Chess.com, for sign-in and fetching your games

We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Chessiro uses cookies and similar technologies on the website:

• Essential cookies, required for sign-in and core functionality
• Preference cookies, to remember settings such as theme and board preferences
• Analytics cookies, to understand how visitors use the site

Data Storage, Retention & Security

Your data is stored on secured servers and encrypted in transit. We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile and the personal data linked to it, except records we must keep for legal, tax or fraud-prevention reasons (for example, payment records), which are kept only as long as required.

Your Choices and Rights

• Delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account) or by emailing us.
• Disconnect your Chess.com or Lichess account from your profile settings.
• Revoke Google or Apple sign-in access from your Google account or Apple ID settings.
• Ask to access, correct, export or delete your data by contactingrakshit@chessiro.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.

Children's Privacy

Chessiro is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date, and tell you directly about significant changes.
